Sannie Mae's Original Recipe Goods
Gardening and canning was a way of life for our family and still is today. After my Mom’s passing my dream was to share these original foods. I began offering samples to family and friends and because of their continued requests for additional samples and lots of encouragement, Sannie Mae’s Heirloom Foods was established in January 2011.
CHOW-CHOW – A Southern sweet relish, bursting with flavor. A long time favorite that is traditionally eaten with pinto or great northern beans, crowder or black eyed peas or turnip greens but goes with everything; put on a salad, rice, baked potato; use as a garnish on grilled chicken breast; pour over cream cheese for a party treat.
PICKLED BEETS - The sweet, tangy taste of "Mom's" beets make them perfect to serve with any meal.
PICKLED OKRA –Mild and crunchy, this Southern comfort food is a tasty garnish on a salad or a side with your favorite sandwiches. Top deviled eggs with a slice, make ham roll-ups, EAT RIGHT OUT OF THE JAR - it is sure to satisfy!
SQUASH PICKLES – This delicious sweet pickle (squash)is a wonderful side dish with any meal; include on a relish tray or make hors d’oeuvres.
POOL HALL SLAW - A hot mustard slaw that adds outstanding flavor to grilled brats, kielbasa, BBQ sandwich or hot dogs for a yummy all-American favorite.
JAKE’S CREEK HOT CHOW-CHOW – A 100+ year old recipe that originated using the end of the garden season veggies. It adds medium heat to any dish but when you put it on a hot dog you've made a Smoky Mountain Hot Dog, a family favorite. Serve with beans and greens or put on a Reuben Sandwich instead of kraut for a zesty taste! It will take you back to your roots.
